Continuing Education & Tuition Reimbursement
MMS Inc., at management’s discretion, reimburses for related expenses for degree or technical programs related to the employees job assignments or approved career tract. The MMS management feels that a well-rounded education can enhance a technician’s skill base and make them more valuable to the organization.
Training and development goals and specific courses are identified in conjunction with the employee’s supervisor, as part of an employee’s development plan, and can include a variety of courses from an array of sources. The organization reimburses for related expenses, listed below. If training is required by the Company, the Company will pay for the time the employee spends attending classes.
Criteria
- Full time employment with MMS Inc. (minimum of 6 months)
- Written and approved education plan (courses, cost, duration, dates, etc.)

Written approval by the employee’s supervisor, MMS Talent Manager, and MMS Officer
Process:
- Discuss development plan with supervisor
- Research and find a program that meets your educational needs
- Complete Education Plan Application PRIOR TO REGISTRATION – applications sent after registration may not be eligible for reimbursement.
- Send completed application to MMS Talent Manager email: communications@mmsteam.com
- Once approved, register for class(es), purchase books and other course materials
- Upon successful completion of class(es), Download and Complete the Tuition Reimbursement Payment Authorization Form and provide final grade (transcript) and any receipts (itemized) to MMS Talent Manager email: communications@mmsteam.com
- After proof of completion, “C” grade or better, is received, you will be reimbursed within 30 days.
Qualification for reimbursement is based on the following criteria:
- Expenses cannot be covered by Financial Aid, Scholarships, Grants. MMS will reimburse for out-of-pocket expenses only.
- Credit hours for pre-approved technical classes towards the completion of an approved Degree at an approved accredited institution.
- Credit hours for pre-approved electives and humanities towards the completion of an approved degree program after the employee has successfully completed the required base technical course requirements.
- Credit hours for pre-approved on-line technical courses related to the employees assigned duties and tasks at MMS Inc.
- Statement from the candidate regarding purpose, intentions and personal commitment stating their intended goals and path of completion.
- Employees should not attempt to undergo more coursework than they can properly complete.
- Statement of prior higher level education that led to the application for reimbursement.
- Planned annual curriculum from the institution showing the course of study, the course number as it applies to that institution, and the number of credit hours granted for successful completion for those seeking a multi-year program of study.
If reimbursement is approved, the following criteria apply:
- Classes can be taken at a community college or state college. Private colleges and universities will require cost sharing with the employee.
- With cost sharing, an online university may be an appropriate venue.
- Employees must meet the residency requirement for in-state tuition.
Employees not meeting in-state residency requirements will receive tuition equal to that of in-state fees. - Completion of course must be verified with a grade of “C” or better.
- Employment must be based on that for a full time employee.
- Course work must meet requirements for an associate, bachelor’s degree or pre-approved technical learning.
- Employee must meet the attendance requirements of the institution providing classroom instruction.
- Classes should be scheduled to not interfere with normally scheduled working hours.
- Employees that attend pre-approved on-line classes must maintain a scheduled time related path to completion by submitting scheduled progress reports to the Education & Training Department.
MMS reserves the right to limit individual reimbursements to $300 per semester hour of an approved course and a limit of $3000 annually per employee.
Reimbursement includes (up to $3000 in a 12-month period):
- Up to 100% of tuition and/or registration fees.
- Up to 100% of books and required classroom supplies.
- Up to 100% of lab fees
- NOTE: Grants, government reimbursement, or scholarship funds will reduce the amount paid by MMS by an equal amount.
Taxes:
- Tuition and/or registration fees paid at 100% as regular taxable income to the employee upon successful completion of the proved coursework with a minimum grade of C.
- Books and required course supplies reimbursed at 100% as regular taxable income to the employee upon successful completion of coursework.
- Lab fees reimbursed at 100% as regular taxable income to the employee upon successful completion of coursework.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Periodically, it is necessary for individual employees or groups of employees to take job-related training courses that are not part of a degree program. This can enhance an employee’s value to the company, keep them up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies and knowledge, and offer a great chance to interact with peers. Participation in these types of programs are also eligible for reimbursement (with approval) or, at the discretion of MMS, may be provided as part of an employee’s career development plan.
Employee Commitment
The MMS Educational Training Reimbursement Program was instituted to provide both the employee and employer with the highest level of qualified instruction. Employees requesting reimbursement must be committed to MMS and its culture by agreeing to remain in the employ of MMS for a period of time equal to the term of educational reimbursement or one year, whichever is greater. These terms will become part of the final employee program acceptance.
